Hello! Welcome to the website of Buffalo River Cabins. We have been hard at work and some things may have changed since you last visited us but we hope you will be as excited as we are about what’s new! We now have 4 fully equipped cabins available for rent; the Big Buffalo Cabin, the Heart Pine Cabin, the Chinquapin Cabin, as well as the Bodark Cabin. We also have the Dogwood and the Redbud, two new camping cabins, as well as several campsites. Please read on for further information!

History
The Big Buffalo Cabin was built in 1984 -1985 by my cousin, Danny Lynch, and his father, U. D. Lynch.

When Danny built the cabin, he logged the timber from Burley Baker’s land on Highway 14 where the Caney General Store was located until it burned in 1996. This timber was used for all the horizontal logs. The upright vertical logs were found down on Water Creek at the Mill Pond Hole where they had been buried for almost 100 years. This big cabin is a true log cabin with a tin roof and a wrap-around front porch.

Just finished in May, 2007, with the help of many friends, is the Heart Pine Log Cabin.  Built by Steve Eliot, it is made of notched, hand-hewn, pine logs.  It has a rock fireplace and front and back porches with cedar posts and a cedar shake roof.  It is a gorgeous cabin and we hope lots of memories will be made in it!

The Chinquapin Cabin, which used to be called the Little Buffalo Cabin, has been many things, one of which was a restaurant run by my mother for several years. It looks much different today but still has a lot of memories in it. A large front porch has been added on and provides lots of entertainment. Chinquapins are trees native to the Ozarks and they are becoming very rare.

The Bodark Cabin shares a roof with the Chinquapin but the porch faces the opposite way. It was transformed recently from a storage space to a spacious cabin. “Bodark” is the name of a tree and the bar in this cabin is made from a slab of Bodark wood.

The Dogwood and the Redbud were just finished in June 2006. Camping cabins are becoming very popular in remote areas.

The Big Buffalo cabin has a loft, basement, two bathrooms, television with VCR, full kitchen with microwave and coffee maker, grill, picnic table, and a washer and dryer. There are sleeping accommodations for up to 16 people. The loft and master bedroom have queen size beds. In addition, the basement has three full size beds and two twin beds. Two futons are in the living area—these fold out to make full size beds. Just bring your food and personal items and enjoy!

Heart Pine (New!)  This beautiful cabin was just finished in May, 2007. Wonderful for just two people, the Heart Pine can accommodate up to six (6) with a queen bed in the loft, full futon and two twin rollaways.  Full kitchen with microwave and coffee maker and one bathroom complete the amenities--there's also a rock fireplace perfect for those colder nights.

The Chinquapin cabin has two bedrooms and two futons in the living area so up to eight (8) people can stay comfortably. There is one bathroom, a full kitchen with microwave and coffee maker as well as a television. The covered front porch has a grill and picnic table.

The Bodark cabin has three bedrooms; one with a queen bed, one with a full bed, and one with two twin beds, as well as three futons that fold out to full beds. Twelve (12) people can easily be accommodated.  There are two bathrooms and a full kitchen with a microwave and coffee maker. A television is also available. The covered porch has a picnic table and many chairs. All bed linens and towels are provided.

The Dogwood and the Redbud, newly built camping cabins with log sides and tin roofs, measure 10x16 on the inside. They are minimally furnished, of course with fold out beds, a small refrigerator, a coffee maker and microwave, and air conditioning. They both have covered front porches with rough cedar posts and chairs for those nice evenings. There are no bathrooms in the cabins but a bath house (2 bathrooms with toilet and shower in each) is right next door.  Six (6) people can sleep comfortably in each. Bed linens are not provided so bring your sleeping bags!
