things to do

The Lower Buffalo River in the Natural State is quite the natural treasure and right "down the way".

Buffalo River Cabins are close by the Buffalo National River near Buffalo Point and the Historic Mining Ghost Town of Rush.

  • Buffalo Point: There is a Ranger Station, hiking trails (including the famous Indian Rock House) and many interpretive programs. Also a popular swimming hole and wade fishing spot for small mouth bass.

  • Rush: The abandoned mining town of Rush is a major tourist destination in the Lower Buffalo River area. It is complete with old abandoned buildings and hiking trails that explore the areas around the mines. Rush is also a good birding area. The river fishing is good for small mouth bass and even the occasional trout migrating upstream from the White River.

  • Hike to Indian Rock House, or the campground trail, the Scenic Overlook in the park, Box Canyon, or visit the historic mining town of Rush.  Another amazing hike is from the bridge to Spring Creek.  It is a 6 mile hike with views of the river and Water Creek.  At Spring Creek you can jump in your canoe and float back to the bridge at Dillard's Ferry.   Adventures include canoeing, kayaking, rafting, horseback riding and fishing. Go barefoot... relax... do something you haven't done in years.

Our History

The Big Buffalo Cabin, our first cabin, was built in 1984 -1985 by my cousin, Danny Lynch, and his father, U. D. Lynch. When Danny built the cabin, he logged the timber from Burley Baker’s land on Highway 14 where the Caney General Store was located until it burned in 1996. This timber was used for all the horizontal logs. The upright vertical logs were found down on Water Creek at the Mill Pond Hole where they had been buried for almost 100 years. This big cabin is a true log cabin with a tin roof and a wrap-around front porch.

Since then we have added 6 more cabins and 2 camping cabins.
